For businesses that require constant and essential communications regardless of location, satellite radio enables users to talk to
anyone in their predefined group wherever they may be on the Earth's surface.
With infrastructure provided by Iridium®'s 66 LEOS (Low Earth Orbiting Satellites), two-way satellite communication has
never had less latency (compared to GEO Satellites). The cost of coverage is dependent upon differing tariffs,
increasing as the surface area coverage increases - this means your business is charged a
fairer rate, not a flat-fee global rate.
Instant wide-area global communications
Loud and clear audio, even in noisy environments
Long-lasting battery life for Hand Units
IP67 Dust and Water Resistant
Built-in Emergency Button
Data Message function
Voice Recording function
Built-in Bluetooth connectivity
SMA aerial connector for an external aerial
Satellite radio is a two-way radio system that uses the Iridium® satellite network. It can be used as a communication tool in remote, isolated areas where there are no mobile phones or landline network infrastructure. Even if terrestrial network infrastructure is rendered unusable by human or natural disasters, Satellite radio can provide a stable back-up, independent from other networks.
Satellite radio can be used in open spaces, like an large outdoors area or the rooftop of a building. Receiving and transmitting may fail if you're in a closed area, depending on the satellite position or any obstacles between the radio and satellites. Your body can also be an obstacle. When you're not transmitting, hook the radio upright on your shoulder rather than on your waist.
Unlike satellite phones, satellite radio users can immediately start talking to all radios in the same group, with just a press of the PTT (Push-To-Talk) button.
No, Satellite radio is PTT (Push-To-Talk) use only. Using the optional RoIP Gateway, the Satellite radio will be able to communicate with other networks.
Communcation fees are typically charged at a flat rate through a monthly plan, and there are no additional call charges.* Commmunication fees differ, depending on the coverage area and the number of talk groups.
*Depending on the country or area, a flat charge plan may not apply, or the service may not be available.
Satellite radio can be crucial for disaster relief. It can allow for both a centralised hub of communications as well as dependable, effective communication between points or teams in the field. When other methods are unavailable or undependable due to the nature of a disaster, even if there is no usable telecoms infrastructure, Satellite radio in the hands of disaster relief teams and humanitarian aid organisations can save lives.

For businesses, organisations and end users that require telephony coverage beyond standard terrestrial systems, satellite services open the door for communications in remote areas where no other service is available. Satellite phones aren't something new but they have rapidly improved, from lowering latency (delay) in calls to faster data rates.
From distant oil rigs to pitching decks, baking deserts to frozen ice packs, the Iridium® 9555 satellite phone can handle any environment. It is small but robust, sleek but durable, easy to use but powerful. It is every bit as rugged as our previous handsets - industrial grade and packed with innovative new features.
The Inmarsat IsatPhone 2 offers satellite voice, text messaging, SOS alerting and location tracking in a tough weather-resistant design. Offering the longest battery life in the industry at an affordable price point, IsatPhone 2 is a great personal communications device for the budget-conscious traveller.

Satellite Broadband is an essential service where conventional fibre or cable based facilities are not available, or where terrestrial services from the cellular network providers are limited by coverage or by speed of service.
For most of the United Kingdom, terrestrial TV is adequate for popular channels. However, satellite TV enables both UK and foreign viewers to experience a plethora of new channels and additional content from the UK or other European and Middle East countries.
HotBird and Astra 2E geostationary satellites are available for businesses or individuals that require European or Middle East Satellite TV source. Contact Cotel for details.
